Acts One Community
In Acts 2, we learn of the first church.
We learn of their faith and get a picture of
how they lived.
Acts 2:42-47 says,
They devoted themselves to the apostles’
teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many
wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had
everything in common. Selling their
possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Everyday they continued to meet together in
the temple courts. They broke bread in
their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and
enjoying the favor of all the people. And
the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
What a church! A
church with passion and compassion. A
church where physical and spiritual needs were met. Earlier in Acts 2, we learn that about three thousand were added to
their number that day. This was a
church that was concerned about reaching and teaching people to live as
Jesus lived. We long to be a church like
the Acts 2 church.
But before there was an Acts 2 church, there was an Acts 1
community.
In Acts 1, we find a group of people who praised and
prayed. They were defined as all being
“joined together constantly in prayer.”
Before we can be an Acts 2 church, we need to be together in prayer and
praise. Join us in our desire to be an
Acts One Community.
